One of the top reasons why so many people choose to call Laurel “home”, is for its proximity to Washington D.C., Fort Meade/NSA and to Baltimore. There are quite a lot of military and DOD contractors that have chosen to settle into Laurel, since it makes for a pretty easy and direct route to access work. Nearby major roadways include 295, 495, 95 and 32. Being so close to several large cities also means you have additional options for shopping, dining, and entertainment.
There is just so much to do in Laurel Maryland! This area is chock full of loads of shopping and dining options. For your shopping needs, you have choices such as Target, Harris Teeter, Walmart, TJ Maxx, Lowes, Home Depot…basically every go to chain store seems to be located here! Restaurants are also in no short supply. Grab a bite to eat from BJs Restaurant, Chidos, or Mad Cow Grill. Quicker favorites are also available that include Chipotle, Five Guys and Chick-Fil-A.
Laurel is also home to some pretty fun and unique things to do. Climbzone for example, is a large indoor climbing center with some neat themed walls to climb. There is also the Dinosaur Park, which is an active archaeological site that occasionally is also open to the public to partake in the excavation. If you enjoy spending time outdoors, Laurel is also home to several wonderful parks. Options include Riverfront Park, Granville Gude Park, and Maryland City Park.
